Armand here, RPost’s product evangelist armadillo. As I sit here and write from Tokyo, working with our RPost Japanese team, partners, and chatting about Ohtani-san (one of the LA Dodger’s greatest), I couldn’t help but put my macroeconomic hat back on.
You probably spent the bulk of your workweek wondering ‘where Armand will turn up Friday.’ If not, I understand 🤣 At any rate, I’ll end the suspense right here. I’m coming to you from the Black Forest in southeastern Germany—home of numerous fir trees and the distinctive (and delicious) chocolate and cherry cake that is one of my favorites.
Armand the Armadillo, here again, your RPost product evangelist. In case you don’t know me, I joined the RPost team recently (read the full press release here). I’m from West Texas originally although I’m based out of the Costa Rica office (long story).
There are certain words that elicit a very positive physical response: puppies, ice cream, vacation, etc. When you hear or think of these words, you get a nice warm, fuzzy feeling. That’s what decades of Pavlovian conditioning will do.
With July 4th in the rear-view mirror, we’re now in peak summer season, which means baseball season. (I happen to love baseball and equate it with long summer nights, hot dogs, sprinklers, and days off from school.)
Now there’s another common syndrome in the working world that I’d like to shed a light on: “Payment Paranoia”.
Seeing as we’re well into baseball season, I’d like to bring up the example of the winningest team in modern baseball history: the 1998 New York Yankees. Including the playoffs, they won an astounding 125 times out of 175 games including a 4-0 sweep in the World Series.
One day when I’m retired, I may write a book called, The Truth Behind Marketing. In it will be all the secrets revealed for companies that pour so much budget into differentiating products that (under the hood at least) are virtually indistinguishable.
